It sought authorisation to acquire all of Shell Overseas Holdings Limited’s shares in the Joint User Hydrant Installation (JUHI) - Jet A-1 aviation refueling facility at the Jackson’s Airport. This facility is currently managed by Shell Oil Products Limited, a locally incorporated company.
After consultation with relevant key stakeholders and detailed analysis, the ICCC concluded that the acquisition would substantially lessen competition. The ICCC also concluded that whilst there would be some benefit to the public which would result, or be likely to result, from the acquisition, the ICCC is not satisfied that those benefits would outweigh the detrimental effects to the public from a lessening of competition.

Pacific Blue (Aust) Pty Ltd will lease a B737-800 aircraft from Pacific Blue (NZ) Ltd. Pacific Blue (Aust) Pty Ltd will code share with Airlines PNG as the operating carrier and the marketing carrier, respectively. On each flight, Pacific Blue will allocate a hard block of the majority of the seats to Airlines PNG and will retain for itself the balance of the hard block seats. Freight capacity on the aircraft has been pre sold to Toll Freight. The arrangement is for a period of 3 years. commencing November 2008.
