Regulatory Industry Divisional Staff - Head Office

The Regulated Industries Division is responsible for regulating infrastructure and service sectors in Papua New Guinea under Part III of the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission Act 2002. Under this Part the Treasury Minister declared the following entities for regulation.

  • PNG Power Limited
  • PNG Ports Corporation Limited
  • Post PNG Limited
  • Motor Vehicle Insurance Limited

In particular, the Commission directly regulates the above state-owned entities that operate in the industries as outlined.

  • The Electricity Supply Industry
  • The Essential Ports Services Industry
  • Postal Services Industry
  • The Compulsory Third Party Motor Vehicles Insurance services industry

The regulated industries are declared under the respective industry Acts such as the Electricity Industry Act (Chapter No. 78), Harbours Act (Chapter No. 240), Postal Services Act 1996 and Motor Vehicles (Third Party Insurance) Act (Chapter No. 295).

The regulatory frameworks administered by the Commission in regulating the above state-owned entities and the industries in which they operate are contained within a number of pieces of legislation, industry Codes of Practice and regulatory instruments known as “regulatory contracts”.
