  • News The telecommunications industry will see a new regulator after a National Information and Communications Technology Authority Bill 2009 (NICTA) has been passed in Parliament on Tuesday 24 November 2009. The economic telecommunications regulatory function administered by the ICCC under the Telecommunications Act 1996 has been replaced by NICTA. This will see a transition from the ICCC to NICTA where licences, codes and rules made under the Telecommunications Act will be transferred. This move will have a set back for the Commission in terms of continuity in the Telecommunications industry and the licence fees that constitute part of Commission’s budget. Read more…
